Chapter 19

“The Villain”.

I’d been keeping a low profile since my “mercy visit” to Bailey, I didn’t leave the flat. Having the ground floor flat was really fortunate; I had direct access to the back garden. There I was sat on the garden patio pavers leaning against the wall having a fag or two while I soaked up a few rays, know what I mean? Then my mobile burst into life; I could see it was Jemma calling. I wasn’t in the mood for lovey dovey talk. She was a decent enough girl, but ever since the night she said she loved me I thought “hang on a minute, better play it cool” so I let the call go to voice mail. I wished I hadn’t.

The taxi was quick and the driver honked the horn as soon as he pulled up. I picked up my jacket and looked around the flat for the last time; what a fucking shame. I grabbed the bag containing all I could carry and my laptop then walked out and slammed the door behind me without looking back. Talk about good timing, we just pulled away as couple of police cars pulled up to the kerb
